Being the Light in Darkness
The pandemic has been tough for everyone. More so for the womenfolk. With the physical and even mental discriminatory line between home and work blurring and overlapping, the pandemic spelled chaos for them.
It is estimated that nearly 114 million people lost their job due to the pandemic in the year 2020. In the US alone, nearly 5.4 million women lost their job against 4.4 million men. And the figures speak nearly the same if not greater difference worldwide. Most of them lost their job due to the now non-existential work-life balance or difference. Women simply had too much to handle on their plates.
Apart from the fear that the disease induced in humankind, and job losses, women had to deal with multitudes of fear. The fear of being stuck. The fear of being unable to handle everyone, the fear of giving up in the face of pressure, the fear of failing on multiple occasions. The fear of being there yet not being available for people around them and so on.
However, trust womenkind to find inspiration and spread hope in bleakest of the situations. Right from the state heads of countries who fought strategically and boldly against the pandemic to show early positive results. To the humble housewives who started ventures from home when the breadwinners lost their job. The pandemic period showed a new facet of women around the globe.
Through this issue of Inspirational Business Women To Watch -2021, we salute the fighting spirit of women who continue to inspire people around them to take charge and keep fighting till the end.
