Freshpet Inc. is voluntarily recalling a single batch of Freshpet Select Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe (4.5 lb. bag) with a sell-by date of 10/29/22 due to Salmonella contamination.
Salmonella can infect animals that eat the product, and humans, particularly children, the elderly, and the immunosuppressed, are at risk when handling infected goods, especially if they have not extensively washed their hands after coming into communication with the products or surfaces subjected to them.
Healthy persons who have been infected with Salmonella should keep an eye out for any of the symptoms listed: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. Salmonella infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle soreness, eye irritation, and urinary tract problems are just a few of the more serious side effects. Consumers who experience these symptoms after coming into touch with this product should seek medical attention.
Salmonella infections in dogs can cause lethargy, bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Only a decrease in appetite, a fever, and gastrointestinal pain will be experienced by some dogs. Infected canines that are otherwise healthy can pass the infection on to other animals or humans. Please see your veterinarian if your dog has taken the recalled product and is experiencing these symptoms.
