• Kindly brief us about your current role and your journey since the beginning of your career.

As the CEO and co-founder of KAPTO AI, I bring over 25 years of international experience in IT and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a background as a professional mathematician to oversee strategic direction, product development, and leadership positions. My work is driven by a passion for solving real-world problems and creating value through innovative technology solutions.

• Can you provide a brief overview of Kapto.ai?

KAPTO is a uniquely advanced Intelligent Document Processing product created to improve client productivity and competitive performance through innovative process improvement approaches. Our proprietary AI solution utilizes a combination of Deep Learning, Machine Vision, and Generative AI, creating a well-engineered ecosystem of collaborating and competing models. This unique strategy involves rotating models based on data and process goals to ensure optimal results.

• What inspired you to start it?

The inspiration to start KAPTO AI came from our extensive experience and keen observation of the Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) market. We noticed that the existing product needed more vision, as they were focusing primarily on processing static files and extracting pinpoint information. On the contrary, we envisioned a platform that could go far beyond this, automating processes rooted in various types of content, including text, images, audio, and video, while encompassing fine-grained categorization and concept synthesis. This broader vision, aimed at addressing customers’ actual needs and leveraging advanced AI and cloud computing, was the catalyst for founding KAPTO AI.

• What is its core mission and how do you see it evolving over the next five years?

We are deeply committed to advancing the field of intelligent document processing to new heights. We aim to break the perception of IDP as just an information extraction tool and instead create intelligent agents that can, independently from humans, carry on business processes based on content understanding. Based on the prediction that the IDP scenario will evolve as a specialized field of autonomous intelligent agents in content-based business processes, our unwavering commitment is to maintain our mission aligned with this view.

• How does Kapto.ai leverage artificial intelligence to differentiate itself from other companies in the industry?

KAPTO’s AI sets itself apart from competitors with its distinctive vision and operation as a non-technical platform. The AI seamlessly operates behind the scenes and carries out processes without requiring attention. It acts as the core engine; once mature, it does not need to be on display

• Can you discuss some of the most significant technological advancements Kapto.ai has achieved recently?

I can’t give too many details. However, KAPTO developed unique intellectual property specifically in the so-called constrained NER (where the entities are partially known as “a-priori”). We have utilized the techniques we have developed to improve the contextual understanding of our well-trained large language models (LLM). However, the most important fact is our complete dedication to bringing any advancement in the AI field as quickly as possible in the realm of IDP; this, I believe, will be our most significant contribution.

• What trends in the AI industry do you find most exciting, and how is Kapto.ai positioned to capitalize on them?

The most exciting trend at this stage is the so-called “mixture of experts LLM”, a pretty exciting evolution of plain LLM. In any case, as the AI industry is rapidly evolving, our goal is always to follow up on new trends and quickly assess how emerging capabilities fit our long-term vision. We encompass new AI technologies in our product roadmap whenever we think they’re helpful.

• How do you stay ahead of the competition in such a rapidly evolving field?

In order to remain competitive in this fast-evolving industry, we are dedicated to continuous innovation with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. By incorporating these principles into our long-term vision and daily operations, we aim to foster innovation and uphold our competitive edge.

• Can you share a success story of how Kapto.ai has made a significant impact for one of your clients?

KAPTO’s claim management solution demonstrates the significant impact we can have on our clients. For example, our solution has dramatically improved operational efficiency and accuracy in handling claims within Helvetia Insurance Group. Through automating complex tasks and effectively managing unstructured content, Helvetia has seen reduced processing costs and time, decreased errors, and improved customer satisfaction. Our ability to integrate deeply into existing systems has enabled the customer to maintain its workflows while utilizing advanced AI to automate them. This success story is a testament to the value and impact of KAPTO AI’s solutions.

• What are some upcoming projects or initiatives that you are particularly excited about? Where do you see Kapto.ai in the next decade?

KAPTO is known for tackling “impossible automation challenges” and looks forward to expanding its use cases to address new client needs and sectors. The company aims to become one of the top three players in the global Intelligent Document Processing industry within the next 3-5 years.

• What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced as the CEO of Kapto.ai, and how have you overcome them?

Citing Elon Musk, running a startup is like chewing glass and staring into the abyss. The biggest challenge is undoubtedly to stay alive, thriving, and growing quarter after quarter.

• How would you describe your leadership style, and how has it influenced the growth of Kapto.ai?

As the CEO of KAPTO, I lead collaboratively, fostering an environment where team members contribute freely. Encouraging open communication and collaboration, we harness our multicultural team’s collective intelligence, driving innovation and efficiency. • What has been the most rewarding aspect of your journey with Kapto.ai so far?

• What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the AI industry?

Here is a straight answer to your question.

• What qualities do you believe are essential for a successful CEO in today’s business landscape?

I believe that in today’s business world, a successful CEO needs three key qualities: visionary leadership, a global perspective, and financial acumen. This involves having a clear vision for the company’s future, understanding international trends, and making sound financial decisions.

“Consumption upgrade drives cleaning tool to upgrade. In the past three years, we have launched the floor washing machine Shinebot series to help people free from daily tough stains cleaning, and the result turned out to be quite satisfying. Shinebots are highly praised by customers and media worldwide. Upheld the same mission as Shinebot’s, our wet & dry machine W100 is created to be the product line extension of the ILIFE floor washing machine. We want to provide more choices to customers who have different tendentiousness and using habits between vacuum cleaners and handheld cleaners.” Said West Miao, the General Manager of ILIFE.
